Excitement!
Hello!
I am 23!
My birthday was really lovely. I loved waking up in our flat, just me and Alex. He made me breakfast in bed and then it was present and card time. I didn’t have very many (because a lot of people still send things to my mum’s house or Alex’s parents), but the ones I got were brilliant. Alex bought me Mario Party 8 on the Wii, which is a great game. He also wrote me a song about his proposal last year. It’s a gorgeous song and made me cry A LOT. I’ve uploaded the lyrics, so you guys can get the gist of it. It’s basically the story of how he proposed to me last year on my 22nd birthday.
After we had presents, Alex and I went out for lunch in Canterbury. We didn’t know where we would go, but settled on Prezzo which was a great choice. Neither of us had been to one before, and we were pleasantly surprised by their service and food. It was a great lunch.
Alex’s brother, Greg, came to pick us up at about 3pm to take us to Hastings, so that we could see our families on my birthday. We went to see my mum and brother, and then went to Alex’s parents’ house for a lovely steak dinner and Wii fest!
It was so much fun!
We planned to celebrate my birthday out on the town the following night (Thursday), and you can check out my photos of that evening on my Facebook, here. I’ll probably add them to my gallery sometime soon too, but for now, they’re just on Facebook. It was a fun night! You can tell we got pretty drunk.
It was just me, Alex, Joe and Greg (our brothers, respectively), and we had a really nice time.
Well, progress on wedding preparations is coming on. We still haven’t booked anything yet, but we’ve made a choice to get the ball rolling before Christmas this year. So, by then, we should have booked the church and the reception venue. Our reception venue will most probably be Leeford Place, but we’ll have to go and have a look at it first. I’m so excited about our wedding, you wouldn’t believe. And it’s really nice that Alex’s mum is excited about it too, because she recently went to a wedding at Leeford Place, and keeps calling us with loads of contacts and tips for us to use for our wedding.
Also, this week, I’ve discovered that during my Nursing course (starting 15th September), I get just over £350/month from the NHS to do the course! How great is that? This means that I don’t have to work during my course, and Alex and I will be fine, financially.
We’re even talking about saving money for our wedding! At first, we didn’t think we’d be able to do that, so it’s a great surprise!
So, I have decided that next Tuesday will be my last day at work. We’re going away to my dad’s in France the following Friday (29th), so I won’t be working that weekend anyway. I don’t see much point in going back to work after our France trip, and then leaving a week or two later.
Right, well I’m off out into town to spend my birthday vouchers. I’ve got £20 for River Island (
) and £20 for Topshop!

On The Edge.
Hey!
So, I’m on the edge of 23. Tomorrow is my birthday!
I just thought I’d come online to talk about the year I’ve had. I’m pretty sure this is the best year that I can remember. So many amazing things have happened to me, and my life has changed dramatically in the last 366 days (it was a leap year, remember?).
Firstly, at 8am on my 22nd birthday, my boyfriend, Alex became my fiancé, Alex. He got down on one knee while we were on holiday with his family, and whispering, “Yes.” to him was the best moment of my life (to date). The prospect of planning a wedding and getting married to him has basically kept me sane this past year. Since being engaged, there has always been this tiny elated bride in the back of my mind singing the bridal march all year round, thinking up ideas and planning every last detail of my ideal wedding.
Secondly this year, I not only started and completed an Access course, I got into university!
Something that I have always wanted to do, and something my parents have always believed I could do. :D I won’t let them down and will most definitely be celebrating a pass in my Nursing degree in three years’ time.
Also, Alex and I moved out of our family homes and settled down in a flat together.
It was a big step, moving away from our families; most people, when they move out, move into a flat or house in the town where their families live, but not us. Mainly due to educational reasons, we moved to Canterbury, one hour (and a bit)’s drive away from our hometown of Hastings. We’ve really settled in here, during the past year. We’ve both got jobs, we have a lovely flat and have made quite a few friends in the year we’ve been here. It’s been a really great adventure and will continue for a while.
So, I just felt like being reflective on the eve of my birthday. I wanted to share with you all what a great year I have had this year.
My last entry as a 22-year-old.

Worries.
Hello everyone!
Well, I have 5 days left of being 22!
I’ve asked my mum for a digital camera - I mentioned in my last blog that I lost my last one on a night out, and then the one before that too!
I really do not plan on losing a third digital camera! :shame: So, I asked for either a Panasonic Lumix or a Nikon Coolpix and my mum said that her and my grandma will sort something out! :yay: The Lumix and the Coolpix are the types of cameras that I lost before, so I’m familiar with how they work, and their features.
Today is my last day off before my birthday! I have four days of working ahead of me, and then it’s birthday time!!
My brother and a friend is coming to stay, and so is Alex’s brother. We’re not yet sure if Alex has to work Wednesday (my birthday) evening, but if he does, I will have company.
We’ll all probably go out and get drunk.
Yesterday, I had a bit of a worry about things. University is a huge worry of mine at the moment; I start in about 5 weeks, and feel very under prepared at the moment. I don’t know which texts I need to buy, I have no stationery and no space to file things. I bought an ‘08/’09 diary yesterday, and that made me feel a bit better but I still don’t know things like where to go on the day I start, who to see, what we’ll be doing etc. What do I wear?!
And then there’s the wedding. Oh my God, the wedding. I felt yesterday like I was almost forgetting about it; it was weird. :o Too many things to worry about all at once! I worry that if I don’t think about the wedding every now and then, nothing will get done and it’ll come to 6 months before and hardly anything will be accomplished! Alex and I decided to book the church and the reception venue this autumn, and that made me feel a lot better.
See, I know I worry for nothing, really - the wedding is in (just under) two years! Actually, tomorrow it’ll be 100 weeks exactly - how cool is that?! Alex said to me today, “Happy 100 weeks and 1 day!” - How cute!
So, that will be all from me. I do just have to mention that I’ve signed up to BloggerWave (give it a go, guys?), and this means that I get paid in US$ for blogging and mentioning some companies, so this is my first assignment:
